Showcasing career opportunities and developing skills in the Shipping Industry

The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers has partnered with Stockton Riverside College and Tees Valley Logistics Academy to introduce the first phase of a dedicated shipping school to the region. By developing a future skilled workforce, the school, which is the Institute’s first in the UK outside of London, aims to help tackle both current and future skills gaps.

Bringing together employers, industry experts and educators, the North East School of Shipping (NESS) will help to demystify the sector, putting it firmly on the radar of those considering their future careers.

Based on the London School of Shipping model, the North East School of Shipping will provide a range of courses to those starting out in the shipping industry, delivered by Stockton Riverside College.

Find our more about the Foundation Diploma in Shipping & Port Agency course, a course developed in Partnership with the internationally recognised Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. The course is delivered by sector experts through classroom delivery with full access to first class college facilities and is ideal for new entrants or those wanting to pursue a career in shipping. If you or any employees are interested in studying for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers qualifications, please come along to our Open Day at Stockton Riverside College on Thursday 10th September, at 5pm. Please report to the main reception and you will be shown where to go. You will have the opportunity to meet the tutors, learn about the courses available and chat to other Members and students of the Institute.

The North East School of Shipping has been established to formalise how we educate not just our current students but to attract students from other organisations and people brand new to the Industry. Further to this, if you are interested in sharing your experiences with the students and help deliver some of the subjects, please come along to the Open Day also.
